This recording pays tribute to Louis Applebaum, the dean of Canadian theatre composers, whose fanfare of brass and percussion has announced the opening night of the Stratford Festival of Canada of every season since 1953. Louis contributed music to 43 Festival seasons, serving on the Board of Governors and composing music for over 75 productions. This CD includes a broad sampling of Louis Applebaum's compositions. A member of the Order of Canada and the Order of Ontario, and executive director of the Ontario Arts Council from 1970-1979, he died in Toronto on April 20, 2000 at the age of 82.
